OperStack vs AthenaHQ: recurring reports with the next page edit

Choose OperStack if you run one business and want a weekly answer to whether ChatGPT and Perplexity name you, who they name instead and which page to change, for $35 a month. On 27 September 2026 AthenaHQ's first paid plan, Starter, cost $295 a month for 3,600 credits across 11 AI engines. The OperStack check reads 10 pages with no signup; AthenaHQ's free tier needs an account.

What you get for $35: one real week of OperStack Watch

This is the actual first report for a Phuket property brand we run, run on 26 September 2026 by the same code subscribers get. We hide the brand name because it is our own site, not a client.

Watch keeps this work going every 7 days: the same 10 buyer questions, the businesses named in the answers, 3 rivals measured beside your site and repeated page checks. Later reports compare the new observation with the previous week and include proposed fixes for the pages checked. You review and publish the changes.

For the question "Top firms to help foreign buyers evaluate Phuket developments before reservation?"

Add this to your homepage, just below the first section.

brand helps foreign buyers compare Phuket property before reservation with a three-project shortlist matched to budget and use, plus checked construction status and buyer review. Featured projects include Origin Residences Bang Tao, So Origin Bangtao Beach and Essence Residence Rawai. We provide verified inventory and transparent prices for the main investment districts, with median prices from our price list. We also show a 0% interest construction payment plan with 20% down, 30% during construction and 50% on completion, and Thai bank mortgage terms of up to 15 years with 50% down payment required.

Before you publish: add the words "developments" to this paragraph if you sell them.

Every sentence in the paragraph comes from the site's own pages; the tool checks each one against a quote before it goes in. Answers change from run to run, so Watch asks the same ten questions every week and shows the trend. Seven days free, then $35 a month.

What do OperStack and AthenaHQ each do?

OperStack gives one business a weekly ChatGPT and Perplexity record: ten buyer questions, the names given instead of yours and a paragraph for the page that needs it, for $35 a month. AthenaHQ is a platform for marketing teams that checks up to 11 AI engines on credits and creates content that moves from draft to review.

OperStack: a routine sized for one owner

OperStack is our product. The free AI visibility check takes a site address and nothing else. It reads a sample of up to ten pages, scores them out of 100 across access, an agent map, schema, quotable content and dates, and then asks ChatGPT three buyer-style questions with web search turned on. The result shows whether your business came up and lists everyone who did, split into rivals and names that only look like rivals, such as directories.

Watch turns that into a weekly habit at $35 a month or $299 a year. Ten questions stay the same from week to week, three rivals are measured next to you, the ten-page score is taken again, and the fixes arrive with a page address and the text. One email lands every seven days.

AthenaHQ: a credit-metered platform for content teams

AthenaHQ describes itself as a platform to monitor what AI says, understand why and take action. It tracks visibility, mentions, citations, sentiment and competitive movement across AI engines, flags content gaps, inaccurate claims and inaccessible pages, and its docs describe an Ask Athena chat on the app’s home page. Its Action Center turns opportunities into content, outreach and commerce work, with each asset moving from draft to review.

Where OperStack pulls ahead for a single business

OperStack keeps the whole job inside a fixed $35 a month, and for a single business that removes the budgeting work AthenaHQ’s credit model creates. AthenaHQ counts “1 credit = 1 AI response”, so every prompt checked on every engine draws from the monthly allowance: 3,600 credits on Starter, which costs $295 a month on 3 October 2026. A team has to decide how many prompts, on how many of the 11 engines, how often, before it knows what the month will cost, and extra credits are a paid add-on priced on request. Watch has no meter. Ten questions a buyer would ask go to ChatGPT and Perplexity every week, and the price stays the same whatever the answers say. The first look is also free in a different sense: AthenaHQ’s free plan lives inside an AthenaHQ account, while the OperStack check runs from a bare address and shows ChatGPT’s live answer on the spot.

  1. Ten pages read, stated plainly. AthenaHQ’s platform page describes crawlability analysis but states no page count. The OperStack check reads up to ten pages, and Watch does it weekly.
  2. Text limited to your own facts. Every sentence in an OperStack paragraph must be backed by exact quotes from your site.
  3. One price, no add-ons. Watch includes everything it does for $35.

How much do AthenaHQ and OperStack cost over twelve months?

AthenaHQ Starter costs $295 a month or $245 a month billed annually, $2,940 a year by our arithmetic, on its page of 3 October 2026. OperStack Watch costs $35 a month or $299 a year. Paid month by month for a year, Starter comes to $3,540 and Watch to $420.

AthenaHQ EnterpriseCustomCustomCustomNot listedCustom allocation
OperStack Watch$35$299 a year$299ChatGPT and Perplexity10 questions a week

The twelve-month figures for AthenaHQ are our multiplication of its per-month price; the page gives no lump sum. API access is a paid add-on billed on top of Starter (“Contact us for add-on pricing”), and the docs say the API settings page is locked on the Free plan.

The like-for-like comparison is Starter against Watch, since Starter is the cheapest plan with ongoing monthly tracking. The free Essential plan is a starting allowance: a $25 free credit with 300 credits, across five engines. What Starter buys is breadth: eleven engines, unlimited topics, integrations with analytics and content systems, content agents. What Watch buys is a narrow, fixed routine for one site, including the paragraph to paste, at about an eighth of the monthly price. The full list of what Watch includes is on the pricing page.

What 3,600 credits mean in practice

Credits turn into answers one for one. Checked on all eleven engines, one prompt uses 11 credits per run, so 3,600 credits cover about 327 prompt runs a month by our arithmetic. Run weekly, that is roughly 75 prompts across every engine; run daily, about 10. The number you can follow depends on the choices you make. Watch’s allowance is simpler to read: ten questions, fifty-two weeks.

By raw count, Watch collects far fewer answers: ten questions a week is about 43 answers a month from each of ChatGPT and Perplexity. The number is deliberate. Each of those questions is one a paying customer asks, the same ten every week, so a change in the answers can be read against the edit you made rather than against a shifting prompt list. An owner who reads those answers with names attached, and receives the paragraph that addresses the gap, has more to act on than one who holds a larger dataset with nobody assigned to read it.

How does each tool check AI answers?

AthenaHQ checks prompts on up to 11 engines and charges one credit per answer. OperStack Watch puts 10 fixed buyer questions a week to ChatGPT and Perplexity with web search on, reads up to 10 pages of the site each time and ties a page edit to what it finds. Coverage and depth are the trade.

StepAthenaHQOperStack
Choosing questionsYou set topics and prompts; credits limit volumeFree check derives three from your pages; Watch keeps ten
Engines5 on the free plan, 11 from StarterWatch: ChatGPT and Perplexity; free check: ChatGPT alone; robots.txt rules for 14 AI crawlers and fetchers

RivalsShare of voice, gaps where competitors are citedNames sorted into rivals and non-rivals; three rivals scored beside you
OutputDashboards, scheduled email or Slack reports, content and actionsWeekly email with the names and the paragraph

The three free questions are not generic. The check first reads your pages to work out the brand, what it sells and where, then writes three questions a buyer of that kind of business would type. If your site never says plainly what it sells, the check stops and asks you for that in one field before it spends anything on ChatGPT. The questions in your result are therefore about your trade and your city, which is why the names that come back are usually real local rivals.

AthenaHQ’s strength is volume across engines, and it is built for teams who compare engines against each other. OperStack starts from the question a buyer asks and works back to the page. When ChatGPT names three law firms and not yours, the useful follow-up is which of your pages should have given it a quotable answer, and what that answer should say.

The page reading is where a small site gains most. Each OperStack check samples up to ten pages from the sitemap and scores five areas: whether 14 AI crawlers and fetchers are allowed in robots.txt (25 points), whether an llms.txt map exists (15), whether schema names the business (20), whether pages open with an answer carrying a figure, have 300 words or more, three or more H2 headings and a table (25), and whether pages carry dates and name their sources (15). A separate SEO basics score covers the same pages.

On the engines Watch does not ask, the check still reports readiness: it reads robots.txt rules per crawler and shows, engine by engine, whether the bots can get in. It does not track what Claude or Gemini answer week to week.

What reaches the owner on Monday: AthenaHQ’s report or the Watch letter?

Both tools can send a weekly email. AthenaHQ’s is a scheduled report, weekly, monthly or quarterly, that sits beside dashboards with citation rates, share of voice and prioritized opportunities with ownership built in. The Watch letter covers 10 questions, the businesses ChatGPT and Perplexity named in your place, and 1 paragraph for a named page, meant to be read in minutes.

AthenaHQ’s Monday email belongs to a reporting system: citation rates, share of voice across up to 11 engines, prioritized opportunities with ownership and measurement built in, and drafts that move to review. A content lead assigns the work, a reviewer checks it, and a CMS integration can carry it to the site. That machinery pays off for a team producing content every week. The Watch letter is written for the person who owns the business and edits the site themselves or has one helper. The week printed above comes from a Phuket property brand we run: ten questions, the brand named in five of them, the firms named instead ranked by count, and one paragraph proposed for a specific page. Reading it, checking the facts and pasting the text takes about as long as a coffee. The same ten questions come back seven days later, which turns the letters into a dated record of one site.

The names come sorted. ChatGPT’s answers mix direct rivals with directories, marketplaces, government pages and firms from a neighbouring trade. Watch separates competitors from names that are not competitors and from names it could not identify, and counts how often each rival came up across the ten questions. The fix also opens with a one-line instruction saying where the text goes, for example “Add this to your homepage, just below the first section”, so nobody has to guess the placement.

A Watch paragraph is short on purpose: 60 to 120 words in three to five sentences. The opening the free check drafts for a single page is shorter still, 50 to 80 words with at least one figure copied exactly from that page. Before either reaches you, each sentence has to carry exact quotes from your own pages, and a second pass rewrites or drops any sentence whose meaning goes beyond those quotes. The drafting rules also forbid adding services, prices or timings the site does not state.

  1. Read the questions where ChatGPT or Perplexity missed you and the names they gave.
  2. Open the page named in the fix and compare the paragraph with what the page says now.
  3. Correct any detail that has changed, paste, publish, note the date.
  4. Seven days on, see whether the answers to those questions moved.

When you need a different kind of tool

AthenaHQ is sized for a content and brand operation, and some of what it does sits outside Watch’s job entirely. Its Starter plan at $295 a month bundles 3,600 credits with integrations and content agents; its Enterprise tier adds SAML and OIDC single sign-on, an organization activity audit log, and a knowledge base with claim review.

  1. A content production line. Teams publishing articles weekly may want drafting and approval in one tool, connected to WordPress, Webflow or Contentful.
  2. One reporting stack. GA4, Search Console, Google Ads, Looker Studio and Slack connections suit a marketing team reporting to executives.
  3. Enterprise governance. Security and legal teams that need sign-on control, audit trails and claim review are a different buyer.

For the owner whose question is whether ChatGPT names the business, the free check answers it today and Watch keeps answering weekly.

Which should a clinic, an agency, a SaaS company or an online shop pick?

Across these 4 buyers the deciding facts are budget and staff. At $295 a month plus credit planning, AthenaHQ Starter fits a team with a content person. At $35, Watch fits an owner who edits the site. All 4 can see ChatGPT’s answer free first.

  1. A dental or medical clinic. Patients ask which clinic in the area to trust for a procedure. The clinic needs to know whether it is named, who is named instead and what its service page should say first. Watch covers that; a 3,600-credit platform with content agents is more than one clinic will use. The fix is also safe for a regulated trade: the paragraph is built from sentences the clinic’s own pages already support, and the drafting rules forbid adding services the site does not state.

  2. An agency running ten clients. AthenaHQ names agencies among the teams it serves and offers unlimited team members, but each client brand still consumes credits. OperStack gives an agency cheaper building blocks: the free check to open conversations with a prospect’s real ChatGPT answer, the free MCP server to set two to four sites against each other, scored out of 100, without leaving Claude or Cursor, a $149 audit of a hundred pages when a client signs, and Watch per client at $35.

  3. A SaaS company. Buyers ask ChatGPT for shortlists. Watch lists the products ChatGPT and Perplexity name instead and drafts the opening for the product page that lacks one. A SaaS marketing team that publishes weekly and reports across engines may want a platform like AthenaHQ as well; compare also OperStack vs Scrunch AI.

  4. An online shop. Shoppers ask where to buy. Watch shows which stores ChatGPT and Perplexity suggest and writes the answer-first paragraph a category page needs. A shop with hundreds of product pages should start with the pages that sell the most, since those are the ones a buyer’s question lands on, and let the weekly score show whether the sample improves.

Running AthenaHQ and OperStack together, or changing over

Teams can keep AthenaHQ for multi-engine reporting and add Watch at $35 a month for a weekly written fix tied to ChatGPT and Perplexity answers. Teams that only need those two engines can move in 5 steps, 2 of which should happen before the AthenaHQ period ends.

The two sit side by side without overlap. AthenaHQ keeps engine-level trends, integrations and article drafting. Watch contributes one site-specific paragraph a week, tied to the questions where ChatGPT or Perplexity left you out. In Claude or ChatGPT, AthenaHQ’s MCP answers questions about your brand’s visibility from your account, and OperStack’s free MCP tools score any site out of 100 or compare up to four, so the competitors AthenaHQ flags can be put on the same scale as you.

A mixed setup can also save credits. AthenaHQ charges a credit for every answer, so a team that lets Watch cover the ten buyer questions in ChatGPT and Perplexity each week can spend its AthenaHQ allowance on the other nine engines and on topics outside those ten questions. The arithmetic is simple: ten questions weekly on two engines is about 86 answers a month, credits AthenaHQ no longer needs to spend on the same ChatGPT and Perplexity checks.

To change over:

  1. Export what you need. Use CSV export on Starter, or copy figures by hand, while the paid period is still active.
  2. Run the free check and read ChatGPT’s current answer and any opening paragraph it proposes.
  3. Start Watch. A card is taken at checkout; a cancellation in the first seven days costs nothing.
  4. Cancel AthenaHQ in account settings. It takes effect at the end of the paid period, and the terms say payments are non-refundable except where law, an order form or an express offer says so.
  5. Carry your best prompts over. Pick the ten questions a paying customer asks before getting in touch.

What our free check measured on AthenaHQ’s own site

The OperStack free check scored athenahq.ai at 60 out of 100 on 27 September 2026, reading 10 pages. Across 496 small-business sites checked on 25 September 2026 the average was 70 and the median 73, so a platform that sells AI visibility sits 10 points under that average. Full study: 731 checks.

Areaathenahq.aiMaximum
AI crawler access2525
llms.txt map1515
Schema naming the business420
Quotable content1325
Dates and sources315
Total60100

The benchmark is our early sample: 496 small-business sites in law, property and dentistry across the US, UK, Australia and Canada, put through the OperStack free check on 25 September 2026. In that set, 172 sites (35%) scored below 70 and only 4 reached 90 or more.

AthenaHQ’s pattern is a common one: the technical door is wide open and the words behind it are hard to quote. Its site allows every AI crawler we test and publishes a working llms.txt, which earned 40 of 40 points in those two areas. The points went missing in the parts an assistant reads when it writes an answer: schema that says plainly which organization stands behind the pages (4 of 20), openings that state a fact with a figure (13 of 25), and dates and named sources (3 of 15). None of that says anything about the quality of AthenaHQ’s product; it describes ten pages on one day. For a business owner the lesson is practical. Opening your site to crawlers is the easy half, and it is often done already. The half that decides whether a page gets quoted is the text, and it is the half an owner can fix without a developer.

A quick self-check follows the same order as the score:

  1. Open your robots.txt and confirm it does not block OAI-SearchBot or GPTBot.
  2. Look for yoursite.com/llms.txt and whether its links open.
  3. Read the first paragraph under the H1 of your top three pages: does each state what you do, for whom, with a number?
  4. Look for a visible date and a named source next to any figure.

Your own site’s result takes about a minute in the free check, and Watch measures it again every week.

Our own site on the same check: oper-stack.com scores 93 out of 100 over 10 pages, measured on 7 October 2026. The number is measured again on every build of this site and never typed by hand.

Frequently asked questions

How much does AthenaHQ cost?
On 3 October 2026 AthenaHQ's pricing page listed a free Essential plan with a $25 free credit (300 credits), Starter at $295 a month and Enterprise on custom terms. Starter billed annually is $245 a month, which AthenaHQ calls 17% off; that is $2,940 a year by our multiplication. Extra credits and API access are paid add-ons on Starter, and the page says to contact AthenaHQ for their price. OperStack Watch costs $35 a month or $299 a year.
What is an AthenaHQ credit?
AthenaHQ meters usage in credits and says one credit equals one AI response. Starter includes 3,600 credits a month, the free plan 300. Because each prompt checked on each engine costs a credit, the number of distinct prompts you can follow depends on how many engines you check and how often. OperStack Watch has no meter: ten buyer questions a week in ChatGPT and Perplexity at one price.
Is AthenaHQ free?
AthenaHQ has a free Essential plan: a $25 free credit that includes 300 credits, five AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot) and unlimited members. The OperStack free check needs no account at all and runs its three ChatGPT questions up to three times a day from one connection.
Does AthenaHQ send a weekly email?
Yes. AthenaHQ's docs describe scheduled reports sent by email or Slack, weekly, monthly or quarterly, alongside its dashboards. OperStack Watch also sends one email every seven days, counted from the day you subscribe. The Watch letter carries the ten questions, whether ChatGPT and Perplexity named you, the names they gave instead, your ten-page score and the text of the next fix with the page it belongs on.
Does AthenaHQ write content for my site?
AthenaHQ creates content from visibility gaps and lists on-page and off-page actions on Starter; its platform page describes each asset moving from draft to review, and integrations publish to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and other CMSs. OperStack writes something smaller: one opening paragraph for a page that lacks a short answer, built only from sentences backed by exact quotes from your own site. It suits an owner who wants a safe edit, not a new article.
Can I cancel AthenaHQ and get a refund?
AthenaHQ's terms say a self-service subscription can be cancelled in account settings, with the change taking effect at the end of the paid period, and that payments are non-refundable except where law, an order form or an express offer says otherwise. OperStack Watch can be cancelled any time; nothing is owed within the first seven days, and paid periods are not refunded.
