AI Consulting Services
AI consulting means deciding what to automate before anyone builds it. OperStack consults on one narrow thing: the path from a stranger arriving to a rep having a conversation. We do not do enterprise-wide AI strategy, and we say so before the first call rather than after it. Most engagements take 2 to 3 weeks from first call to written assessment.

The honest position on this term
“AI consulting” is one of the most contested phrases in this market. The first page of results is EY, IBM, Slalom, BCG and Accenture, and they are there because they run programmes with budgets and governance attached.
We are not competing for that work and we would lose if we tried. What we do is the narrow slice they usually scope out: the operational path from a stranger arriving on your site to a rep having a useful conversation.
If you arrived here looking for enterprise transformation, the large firms are the correct answer and this page has saved you a call.
What we assess
Four counts, reconciled: requests that arrived, records created, records with a live owner, records actually worked. The gaps between them are where the money is, and they are almost never where the org chart says they are.
That reconciliation method is set out in the inbound lead audit.
The ranking rule
Opportunities get ranked by the cost of the current failure, not by how interesting the fix is. A routing rule with no fallback branch is dull and often the single most expensive defect in the funnel. A conversational agent is interesting and frequently worth less.
Consultants who rank by novelty produce roadmaps that look impressive and start with the third most valuable item.
Sequencing is part of the advice
Launching three modules in one month means you cannot attribute the change to any of them. You will have moved a number and learned nothing about which lever did it.
We sequence deliberately, with an exit test per step, so the second decision is better informed than the first. Where lead ops ends and RevOps begins, which determines who owns each artefact, is covered in lead ops versus RevOps.
Where this advice stops being worth buying
If you already know what to build and have engineers idle, buy the build. If your inbound volume is small enough that one person reads every request, the leak is visible without analysis.
And if nobody will own the rules after we leave, no assessment survives contact with the next quarter. We will raise that on the call rather than in an invoice.
What the engagement covers
- Current-state map of the inbound path, with measured failure rates rather than estimates
- Opportunity list ranked by cost of the current failure, not by novelty
- Automation boundary per step: testable pass condition, or it stays human
- Build, buy, or configure decision per opportunity, with the reasoning written down
- Sequencing, because parallel launches destroy attribution
- A measurement plan that names the decision each number should cause
What you keep
- A written assessment your team can act on without us
- Ranked opportunities with the cost of inaction stated per item
- An explicit list of what we recommend not doing, and why
What this does not cover
- Enterprise AI strategy, governance frameworks, or board-level transformation decks
- Model selection consulting. We use hosted models and the choice is rarely the constraint
- Change management or organisational design. We map process, not reporting lines
If one of these is the actual problem, say so on the audit call and we will point you somewhere better rather than sell you the wrong module.
Start with the written assessment
Free and in writing: send the site and how inbound works today, get the gap we see, the module that fixes it and a fixed price within two working days. No call at this stage.
Frequently asked questions
- What do AI consulting services actually include?
- In this category the term covers everything from a two-week process review to a two-year enterprise programme. Ours is the narrow end: the inbound path from arrival to conversation, assessed and sequenced. If you need the broad end, we are not the right firm.
- How is this different from the big consultancies?
- Scope and price. Accenture, EY, IBM and BCG do enterprise-wide programmes with change management attached. We do one process, in weeks, and hand you a document. Both are legitimate. They solve different problems.
- Why would we not just hire a big firm?
- If your problem is company-wide AI adoption with governance and procurement, hire them. If your problem is that inbound leads leak between the form and the CRM, a large programme is a slow and expensive way to fix a routing rule.
- Do you recommend tools you resell?
- We take no reseller commission from anything we recommend. That is deliberate, and it is why the recommendation is sometimes a setting change in software you already pay for.
- What if the assessment says do nothing?
- Then it says that. It has happened. A funnel that converts adequately with low volume needs traffic, not automation, and no amount of consulting changes that arithmetic.
